If you were asked to name all of the flaws that bother you about your smile, what would be included in your answer? Perhaps your teeth aren’t as white as you’d like them to be. Maybe some of your teeth are crooked, broken or have gaps in between them. Another may be significantly smaller than the rest of your teeth, or perhaps you have a tooth that is misshaped. Lucky for you, Dr. Taba can name one treatment that will correct all of these imperfections: porcelain veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers, also called dental veneers or simply veneers, are custom crafted shells of dental porcelain or composite resin materials that Dr. Taba adheres to the teeth in your smile zone, thereby concealing all of your existing smile’s flaws and giving you a beautiful smile instead. Normally, enhancing a smile with several imperfections would require a number of restorative and cosmetic treatments; perhaps dental implants, porcelain crowns, and teeth whitening, for example. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, improve your smile with one treatment over the course of two appointments. Moreover, veneers are designed to accurately mimic natural teeth in color, shape, size and even light reflecting properties.
If you would like to know whether or not porcelain veneers are the right solution for your smile, then Dr. Taba would be happy to consult with you. At this meeting, he will first examine your teeth and gums, making sure there aren’t any underlying problems—cavities or gingival disease—that need to be taken care of first. This is also your opportunity to describe the type of smile you have in mind. Of course, Dr. Taba will want to design veneers that complement your unique features, but what you envision is important, too.
Getting Porcelain Veneers in Seattle
At the first appointment for veneers, Dr. Taba will prepare your teeth by removing a very thin layer of each tooth's enamel. This is done to ensure that your veneers lay smoothly in line with your other teeth. Once this step is completed, we’ll take impressions of your teeth, so the skilled ceramist at our dental lab will be able to fabricate veneers that fit perfectly on each tooth. At our office, we’ll use these impressions for the temporary veneers you’ll wear for about two weeks.
Once your permanent veneers are ready, you’ll return to our Kenmore, WA, dental office where Dr. Taba will remove the temporaries and place your new customized porcelain veneers. The new smile you see will be natural, durable and beautiful!
