Implant Retained Prostheses in Kenmore

Full dentures that replace an entire arch of missing teeth snuggly fit over your gums. Mounted on a gum-colored base, these carefully crafted false teeth restore a person’s ability to smile and to chew. Likewise, a partial denture replaces one or several teeth. Clasps or brackets that attach to adjacent teeth hold a partial in place.

A common complaint among both full and partial denture wearers is that these devices sometimes move or fall out at the most inopportune time, such as when you are speaking to a group of people, or having dinner with family or enjoying a laugh with friends. If this has ever happened to you, then you may want to consider an implant retained prosthesis. Attached to a dental implant, your denture or partial will be securely held in place, so you’ll never again need to worry about slipping or clicking dentures or a prosthetic device that falls out completely.

Implant Retained Dentures and Partials

A dental implant is a small biocompatible titanium post that a dental surgery expert positions in your jawbone to provide a solid base for a tooth restoration. In the case of a single missing tooth, the implant usually supports a custom-crafted porcelain crown. In the case of several missing teeth, one or more implants are strategically positioned along your jaw. As you heal, the post and surrounding bone tissue fuse together in a process called osseointegration (bone + integration). This fusion gives the implant a firm footing. In addition, the implant provides an important service to your jaw, which would otherwise begin to disintegrate without stimulation from the implanted post.

While you heal from surgery, you’ll wear a temporary denture or partial to protect your gums and the implant. Then, after a few months of healing, you’ll return to see Dr. Taba who will attach your permanent full or partial denture. An attachment is placed along the underside of your denture that tightly connects the prosthesis to the dental implant. Although you will wear your implant retained prosthesis all the time, Dr. Taba can remove your denture if necessary.

"I’ve been getting my teeth cleaned at Dr. Taba’s office for the past few years and love being greeted by all of the positive smiling faces when I walk in. I have very sensitive teeth and Dr. Taba and the hygienists are always SO gentle and take extra care to make sure I’m never in pain. Dr. Taba’s genuine care and love for his patients shines through his kind demeanor and great attention to detail. I can always trust him to get the job done exceedingly well and ease my anxiety about being at the dentist."

"I came for a cleaning, exam, and X-rays while they were having a special. All three for $112! It had been over a year since I had been to the dentist and I had a few cavities that I was already aware of that would need to be filled. The cavities where confirmed during the cleaning and nothing else was noticed. Overall the cleaning and exam went great. They have a great staff on hand, a wonderful view of Lake Washington while relaxing in their massaging chairs. I was able to schedule a follow up visit for the cavities a few days after. This appointment was great as well! I will return for future dental work."
