Multiple Implant Tooth Replacement

For many years, patients relied on crown and bridge and removable full and partial dentures to replace missing teeth, but these tooth replacement options only restore the visible portion of teeth. Dental implants, the most versatile tooth replacement option, replace the entire tooth from the roots up, and can be used to permanently support any number of replacement teeth. For many patients, replacing their missing teeth with dental implant-supported prosthetics is the right choice, but it’s important for patients to understand their tooth replacement options and the benefits of each.

Why Dental Implants

Because the root of the tooth is replaced with implant posts, implant-retained prosthetics allow patients to experience superior comfort, optimal support, retained bone density, and natural gum tissue volume and facial shape. Removable dentures and traditional crown and bridge tooth replacement don’t preserve bone and gum tissue which may lead to further tooth loss. Over time, patients with removable dental prosthetics notice a change in facial shape, increase in fine lines and wrinkles, and will need to have their appliance refitted as bone and gum tissue is reabsorbed. A dental implant is a titanium post placed below the gum line that mimics the function of a tooth root making implant-supported dental prosthetics the most natural looking and feeling option. Additionally, dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that prevents loss of bone and gum tissue.

Implant-Retained Fixed Bridge

A traditional fixed bridge or crown and bridge can be used to replace one to three consecutive missing teeth. The traditional fixed bridge uses crowns attached to healthy teeth to support a dental prosthetic. An implant-retained fixed bridge replaces consecutive missing teeth using one or more titanium implant posts to support a custom dental prosthetic. There’s no need to damage surrounding healthy teeth, and the dental prosthetic looks and feels more natural.

Implant-Supported Partial and Full Dentures

Traditional partial and full dentures are removable tooth replacement prosthetics that rely on natural suction, dental adhesives, or clips for support. Patients who have these appliances frequently complain that their dentures feel loose, they are unable to eat a variety of foods, and that caring for their teeth is inconvenient. Implant-supported partial and full dentures function more like natural teeth. Compared with removable dentures, the security of implant dentures allows patients to regain 70% of their chewing ability. There’s no need to remove implant-retained dentures for cleaning or sleep. Patients are able to continue their regular oral hygiene routine.

Find Out more

Replacing teeth is essential to oral health, but it may also help patients in other parts of their lives. A recent workforce pole revealed that employers are less likely to hire or promote people with one or more missing teeth. These people were considered less educated and unhealthy by peers, and typically made less money than coworkers with complete smiles. If you’ve avoided replacing one or more missing teeth, don’t wait one day more. Contact Dr. Amin Tabatabaian and his Kenmore, WA dental team to schedule a dental implant consultation today.
